Violence Strikes World Pride Parade: Three Injured as One Shot and Two Stabbed

During the incident, two individuals were stabbed and another person was shot at the World Championships. Pride march in Washington DC yesterday.

The two unidentified men were hurriedly taken to the hospital after being stabbed at Dupont Circle Park during the LGBTQ+ festivities yesterday night.

Individuals present in the park were asked to leave by law enforcement officials around 7:30 pm as investigators began looking into the assault.

In the later part of the evening, a different individual was wounded by gunfire close to the park located on 19th Street NW.

He stays awake, and his wounds are not considered to be potentially fatal.

The events occurred as officials initially requested that the park remain closed throughout the parade from Friday till Sunday.

A barrier eight feet tall was set up around the public area on Thursday evening in anticipation of the event.

However, the city government overruled this decision and instructed the facility to stay open throughout the weekend.

Sydney Willis, who works as a waitress at a local eatery, mentioned that she rushed inside upon hearing a shot being fired.

She told the Washington Post People certainly seemed concerned at first, but I believe things settled down rather swiftly.

She mentioned that what started as "a really enjoyable experience" where "everyone was having a great time" turned into a chaotic situation.

Two distinct crime scenes where the events took place were cordoned off by law enforcement officers.

So far, no arrests have been made regarding the stabbing incidents, and the police have not commented on whether they are holding any suspects after the shooting.

Hundreds of people disregarded the wet conditions to participate in the vibrant LGBTQ+ procession in Washington D.C. on Saturday.

At the heart of the procession, a vibrant rainbow banner stretching over the distance equivalent to three soccer fields was borne aloft by 500 participants from the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington.

The celebrations are set to come to an end today with a rally, street party, and a concert taking place on Pennsylvania Avenue.
