Trent Alexander-Arnold has disclosed that he has been studying Spanish for "a few months" following his first appearance for Real Madrid in the Club World Cup .

The England stars departed leaving behind devoted supporters from his previous team Liverpool astonished when he spoke to his family, friends, and the press in flawless Spanish at his presentation as a Madrid player last week.

After a difficult maiden appearance for Los Blancos , the right-back was asked about his linguistic talents by various outlets and he revealed that he had been learning Spanish in anticipation of the move to Madrid.

I have been studying Spanish for several months," he said to DAZN. "Once I found out I would be coming here, I wanted to learn how to fit in.

'A different nation, a fresh squad, and another metropolis... Adapting well to the local culture is crucial. This is exactly what I am striving to do.'

Given he has spent his whole career on Merseyside, many would have expected Alexander-Arnold to start life in Spain with little to no knowledge of the language.

Many people were surprised last week when the ex-Liverpool vice-captain delivered his whole speech in Spanish, expressing that joining the club with fifteen European titles is a "dream come true."

Some Liverpool supporters, along with numerous football fans overall, have found themselves puzzled about how Alexander-Arnold has become so proficient in using the language, considering he only departed from Anfield in March.

Liverpool fan media outlet, Redmen TV, wrote: 'Impressive for a lad who only decided in March really.'

Meanwhile, another insinuated that Alexander-Arnold has clearly been plotting to leave the Reds for longer than it seemed.

They wrote: 'This guy has been planning this move for a WHILE!!' Another red was inclined to agree: 'Of course Trent should, when you're planning this move for almost 2 years.'

After Madrid’s 1-1 tie with Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal in Miami, Alexander-Arnold maintained that he believes he made the correct choice in moving to the Bernabeu.

"It's my first experience of changing teams, so I wasn’t sure what to anticipate. I came into this with zero expectations," he said to Mail Sport.

It's a significant shift and quite distinct, yet I am enjoying each and every moment of it. Deep down inside, both mentally and emotionally, I feel certain that this was the correct choice for myself.
