Genesis Adds Tarquini to Management Team as WEC Program Gears Up
Legendary touring car driver Gabriele Tarquini has been appointed as the sporting director for the new Genesis World Endurance Championship Hypercar team set to debut in 2026.
The individual, aged 63, has assumed a new position with Genesis Magma Racing, which is based at Paul Ricard, following their tenure as the team manager for the BRC Racing Team TCR outfit. As anticipated from the previous summer .
Following his stint as a driver, Tarquini transitioned into management. stepped down from piloting at the age of 59 in 2021 Following four seasons with the Italian team in the TCR World Touring Car Championship.
"When I retired from racing in 2021, the logical progression was to transition into motorsports, beginning within my area of expertise — touring cars," stated Tarquini, highlighting his victories which include winning the 1994 British Touring Car Championship with Alfa Romeo and securing the 2009 World Touring Car Championship with SEAT.

Tarquini, who participated only once in the Le Mans 24 Hours during his extensive racing career way back in 1985, was among several new hires unveiled by Genesis—the luxury division of South Korea's major car manufacturer Hyundai—on Thursday ahead of this year’s race.
Justin Taylor, who was part of the team behind the winning Ferrari 499P at the 2023 Le Mans race in the Hypercar class and has extensive experience with Audi’s LMP1 efforts, will now serve as the chief engineer for Genesis following his recent move from Chip Ganassi Racing.

Anouck Abadie, who previously competed in the French Formula Academy series as a driver, transitions into a team management role following her departure from Switzerland-based Kessel Racing GT, where she has been serving as the team manager since 2022.
Team principal Cyril Abiteboul said: “Anouck, Justin and Gabriele are fantastic additions to the Genesis Magma Racing team.
“They all have great experience in motorsport, which will be complemented by additional endurance racing expertise of the other team members we will recruit in the coming months.”
Taylor and Abadie have already joined the Genesis trajectory program managed by IDEC Sport, beginning with this weekend’s Le Mans WEC event.
IDEC is partnering with Hyundai Motorsport to run an LMP2 ORECA-Gibson 07 as they prepare for Genesis’s Hypercar launch next year.
