Odion Ighalo reconnects with Obafemi Martins following the 2024/25 football season.

Following his 36th birthday, the Al-Wehda team captain has been enjoying valuable moments with his mother and dear ones, whereas Inter Milan’s skipper Obafemi Martins chose to spend his time with Nigeria’s present footballers.

Ighalo and Martins were part of Team White at the star-studded #PlayForPurpose charity game held in Lagos.

The ex-Watford player, recognized for his modesty, served as a leading forward when 'Obagoal' functioned from the sidelines, using his speed, nimbleness, and strength to unsettle opposing defenders.

Prior to their meeting, Obafemi Martins, widely recognized as 'Weapon of Mass Destruction,' showcased an outstanding display in a five-a-side game alongside Victor Osimhen, who was named the 2023 CAF Player of the Year.

Following their outstanding display on the field on Sunday, former internationals Odion Ighalo and Obafemi Martins went to the club to relax.

The ex-Newcastle player Obafemi Martins posted on his Instagram story about him and Ighalo dancing to "Soyoyo" by the legendary Apala musician Musiliu Ishola.

In 2000, Musiliu Ishola unveiled his popular track "Soyoyo," which was 25 years ago at the time of writing. He is also the son of Haruna Ishola, who was a legendary exponent of the Apala music genre.

The part of the song posted by Obafemi Martins is sung in Yoruba: 'Enu won ni you pa won Babatunde o da mi loju', meaning let people say, their mouth will lead them into trouble.

The famous soccer stars were seen at the club with their most dedicated follower, Akpede Arutere. Based in Abuja, Arutere travels to Lagos every time either Ighalo or Martins is in the nation.

Odion, Martins' record with the Super Eagles

Odion Ighalo, once a prolific striker for the Super Eagles, ranks as Nigeria’s eighth top-scoring player with 16 goals, level with Samson Siasia.

In 2015, the player, who was 36 years old at the time, started representing Nigeria under then-coach Daniel Amokachi, according to BBC. He scored his initial goal for the national team in 2019 during a match against Seychelles.

In the 2019 AFCON, Ighalo stood out as the top goalscorer, with Nigeria securing the third position.

In the meantime, Obafemi Martins ranks as the sixth all-time leading goal scorer for the Super Eagles with 18 goals to his name.

As per the Global Sports Archive, the player netted during his first appearance for Nigeria in the 2004 Unity Cup held in London when he was just 19 years old. He was 40 at the time of this statement.

He was part of Nigeria's squad that won the Bronze medal at the 2006 Africa Cup of Nations and also played in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Osimhen partners Martins

Earlier reports indicated that Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen was part of the same five-a-side football team as legend Obafemi Martins during a friendly match.

The partnership between the two athletes led to success with Osimhen netting an impressive four goals in just 20 minutes.

On a post from X, the Galatasaray forward slowly began to enthrall the spectators, leaving his defenders spellbound with his exceptional skill display.
